Your youngest readers will delight in this fun and colorful board book that includes a free downloadable song for families to enjoy.
Each leaf of this beautifully created board book reveals a different animal—an earthworm, a black bear, a lazy dog, a hooty owl—each shown in a unique form of light—dawn light, winter light, fire light, starlight. This simple structure plays to Kate Endle's signature cut-paper collage creations.
Included are two free downloadable MP3s of Caspar Babypants performing songs based on the text in the book (one is fast and jazzy for daytime, the other slow and sleepy for bedtime).
About the Author
Kate Endle grew up in Northeast Ohio and attended the Columbus College of Art and Design. Her illustrations can be found in magazines, greeting cards, children's books, and home decor products. After years of collecting unique paper, she realized it was time to put her supplies to use. With scissors, acrylic medium, and a wide selection of hand-painted and decorative papers, she created another avenue for her love of design and color. Original art and Kate Endle collage prints can be found at her online shop at KateEndle.com.
Caspar Babypants is also known as Chris Ballew, twice Grammy-nominated lead singer and songwriter for the rock-and-roll band The Presidents of the United States of America. After years of tinkering with simple tunes, Chris rediscovered folk and traditional music and focused his songwriting for kids, giving birth to Caspar Babypants. His wife, Kate Endle, has influenced his transformation and writing style for kids. Chris also composes music for commercials and television.
"Eye-catching collages depict gentle animals whose habitats are brightened by different light sources … When it's time to turn off the lights, readers will likely request a rereading."
"Bunny [Rabbit] in the Sunlight is one of those wonderfully eye-catching board books you are eager to sit down and read with your little one."
"...younger tots will devour (possibly literally) the clever, chew-worthy board book BUNNY RABBIT IN THE SUNLIGHT, which opens with a rooster cock-a-doodle-doing in the morning light and ends with turning off the light and saying 'Night, night.'"
"Bunny Rabbit in the Sunlight by Kate Endle and Caspar Babypants is a book you really need to see (and as it turns out) hear. On each page your preschooler will find a different animal created in cut paper. The forms are beautiful to look at, but so are the perspective each one is presented in -- different forms of light. Each image is accompanied with simple text, describing the animal and the setting. Once the reading is done (this is a great bedtime book), let your child listen to the two recordings from Babypants, based on the text."
"For your youngest readers (or read-to-ers) Endle and Babypants have created Bunny Rabbit In The Sunlight, a board book that is full of eye catching illustrations and text that is deceptively simple … a great book to give to the little ones as well as to read to them for a bedtime tale."
"With Kate [Endle] illustrating and Caspar [Babypants] writing, these two new books [Bunny Rabbit in the Sunlight and My Woodland Wish] are perfectly balanced and delightfully beautiful."
Boston Children's Music
"...both books [Bunny Rabbit in the Sunlight and My Woodland Wish] capture the peaceful, gentle spirit of Caspar Babypants’ music, and feature some of Endle’s loveliest work."
"Both books [Bunny Rabbit in the Sunlight and My Woodland Wish] are beautifully illustrated, and both are totally charming little books... If there's a child in your life that loves animals and the outdoors, or if you're a city mom whose kids don't get enough exposure to nature (like me!), these books would be a great addition to your home library."
Growing My Kids Reviews
